Meg Murry is a character from a series of books by Madeleine L'Engle, an amazing writer and thinker who passed away last year at a very ripe age. I highly recommend her work, especially A Wrinkle in Time, A Wind in the Door, and A Swiftly Tilting Planet--gorgeous, imaginative YA SF/fantasy. If you like HP and HDM, odds are good you'll like these.
