Nineteenth Century Naughtiness!

(I'm trying to get better about using this regularly.)

First off: GIFTFIC!!! The spectacular [personal profile] stonepicnicking_okapi wrote me this AMAZING thing for Dick or Treat (best fest name ever):

Soft-Boiled. Witty and absolutely RAUNCHY - Holmes/Watson/Raffles/Bunny in the Turkish baths. "He's a naughty little Bunny." Extra points for use of dubiously-acquired jewelry!

Second: I have just made a novella pitch to Carnation Books. It'll be ACD-flavoured Holmes/Watson, 19th century, with steampunk and magic-realism and cosmic-horror elements. ACD H/W doesn't need to be scrubbed for publication, because public domain means never having to say you're sorry.

Former battle mage Dr. John H Watson is a broken man again, mourning two loves - one that could speak its name, and one that dared not. What could be in this mysterious message that prompts him to disguise himself, change his name, and book an express airship to the United States?

CHICAGO, 1893:

A brash young city builds a World’s Fair to celebrate itself, and a monster lurks in its entrails, gnawing from within. In this tale of magic, horror, and romance, Dr. Watson has a slim, dangerous chance to bring back his beloved from the Underworld. Sherlock Holmes is not truly dead - yet.

Set in an alternate-history steampunk world with magic (and an AU where H.H. Holmes was Herman Webster Mudgett’s real name), this ACD-canon-flavoured adventure story will feature elements of mystery, magic realism, cosmic horror, and of course queer romance. (Spoiler alert: happy H/W ending.) Stormy, husky, brawling!

I am a little ashamed of just how much money I would exchange for your book right now. I have a wife and son to think about, and now a loan from the bank too. But. I would give much money for your book.

I missed this post when you first made it but please let me add to the whimpering, pleading chorus. WANT.
