oh, p.s.--i found Hot Neighbor's passport today (don't ask). his 2001 passport photo resembles...uncannily...a 42-year-old Alan Rickman. at last the mysterious attraction is illuminated.

Is the Master Musicians of Joujouka the same album that the Rolling Stones' Brian Jones produced? Back in the day (before Internet), I searched high and low for that LP, paid a mint for it when I found it, and then years later my dog chewed the corner of the album cover. The record still plays, though.

Oooh. Good thing the record wasn't hurt. Same group, not the same album. The one I was listening to at that moment was the Bill Laswell-produced one, Apocalypse Across the Sky. I have the Brian Jones one too, though, and another one on Womad. They're all amazing.
