I'm glad your friend is OK. Property (and sad to say, even pets) can be replaced; people can't be.

I think the true depth of this catastrophe still hasn't sunk into most people's consciousness yet. This is shaping up to be the equivalent of San Francisco in 1906, at least in terms of property damage. Sadly, New Orleans will never be the same.
