The Clot Thickens!

Purge-related PSA: Be VERY careful if you go to the Warriors of Idiocy site: it's been widely reported now that the site loads you up with spyware.

These charming folks have now attracted the notice of [livejournal.com profile] dark_christian, the Dominionist/theocrat watch group on LJ, and one of the most informative posters there, [livejournal.com profile] dogemperor, has a post here about some very unsavory connections this group may have. (But the Confederate flag and homophobic and racist rants on the WoI individual's personal blog don't take much detective work, they're out there for all to see. Looks like it gets even worse).

As for general LJ-fandom related things, [livejournal.com profile] ms_katonic has a terrific roundup of links here.

There is the community [livejournal.com profile] innocence_jihad on LJ, and fandomtossed on GJ. (I'm vulgarweed over there too - friend me!)

Now I'm working on a post about the importance of alternative archives. Coming soon. What are your favorite archives? (Multifandom, your fandom, etcs.)

I'd taken a look yesterday, but ran my AV scan and I seem to be clean. *crosses fingers* Not intending to go back.

Uh... my favorite archive is my own site. Which, yeah, I suppose someone could conceivably contact the web host to complain about adult content, but I'm not terribly concerned about that (it's the same host that HASA uses).

Skyehawke is decent enough, though there are certain restrictions re: content (that Australia under-17 thing). Except for fanfiction.net that's the only big multifandom archive I really use (and ff.net I only use in a very limited way).

If there were someplace that took everything, and where I could be assured that the rules wouldn't change and things wouldn't be yanked or canceled without warning, I'd love to know about it.

Thinking, what a whole lot of this boils down to is that people don't like to mind their own business. If I'm not doing anything that causes actual physical harm to another person, IMO there is no reason for it to be considered illegal; if someone doesn't like what I write, they don't have to look at it.

Ah, your own site. That's the best refuge of course.

I'm hearing good things about The Archive at the End of the Universe: http://www.the-archive.net/index.php I just got an invite, but it's being a little glitchy for me. I'll report back.

[identity profile] celandineb.livejournal.com 2007-05-31 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Will be interested in hearing how that one is. It's like Skyehawke in being invite-by-current-member only, right?

[identity profile] vulgarweed.livejournal.com 2007-05-31 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
Yup. And if I ever get over this glitch, you're in if you want to be. :)

[identity profile] celandineb.livejournal.com 2007-05-31 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
*grins* Thanks. Appreciate it!

[identity profile] celandineb.livejournal.com 2007-06-01 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, did you figure out the glitch? *bats eyelashes* 'Cause I think I would like to archive there...

[identity profile] vulgarweed.livejournal.com 2007-06-01 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! They fixed it for me last night - but then LJ wouldn't let me post!

What username would you like, and where shall the invite be sent?

[identity profile] celandineb.livejournal.com 2007-06-01 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Username: Celandine [capitalized], and you can send the invite to celandine AT wellinghall DOT net; presumably it should be to the addy I'd want registered, so that would be it. Thanks ever so! *G*

Done! watch your e-mail. :D

Whee! *hurries over*
