Fisting Babyhand and the Lemon Sodomites!

This whole post and its comment thread at Fandom_Wank has me shrieking with laughter harder than anything else in fandom has in MONTHS, and right now I desperately needed a good laugh like you would not believe.

AWESOME.

So I ask my f-list: if you were going to troll a fic-search community in any of your fandoms, what incredibly OTT crack-fic summary would YOU write? And would it be very possibly a real fic that really exists?

If you were going to request a fic of mine but didn't remember it very well, how cracktastic could you make the summary?

If there was a crackfic in your fandom that doesn't really exist yet (as far as you know) but you really wish it did, how would you phrase a fake search request for it?

When I read about this over breakfast, I wondered if it would even have been possible in another fandom.

I wish it would be. It would probably be possible in HP fandom, because that's just that huge and full of all sorts of wonderful weirdness. LOTR fandom in its numerical heyday could possibly have pulled that off too, but only if it got a serious sense-of-humour transplant.

I'm not in SGA fandom -- my attempts to watch it have always been derailed by the fact that the show just doesn't grab me--but I respect it highly, and it's not for the SRS BSNS fics, it's for stuff like this, which give me huge crack envy. I do SO love good crack.

I still haven't recovered from the ceremonial cum doughnut. In LotR, it would be cum lembas. Hmmm.

Cum lembas!!! I'm sure someone must have written that at some point, somewhere, back in the day.

Yeah, I had a really hard time watching SGA, too. I marathoned the first couple of seasons and I think I saw s3 not too long after it aired, but then I didn't get around to s4 and s5 till after the show was over with. (It really helps to have knitting I need to do and hence a need to find TV to sit down in front of for hours at a time. I've gotten through a lot of things I might not have otherwise bothered with since I had something to help keep me entertained and productive but not interfere with my ability to follow a plot.) It really is a case of a show I can't stand but a fandom I felt compelled to give myself the canon backstory for. (Also, it vids well.)

Torchwood would be an interesting case; I actually keep a rec list of "in another fandom, this would be crack, but here..." fics I've turned up in my travels, because I'm still waiting to run across a story that would manage to look out-of-place considering the premise of the actual show! (I mean, when you can go "Um, and Ianto turned into a dolphin...", and this makes perfect sense, well, let's just say I'd like to see a troll try to keep up...)

She was walking a fine line without knowing it. Choose a fandom in which ceremonial cum doughnuts are unlikely and be found out immediately or choose a fandom in which ceremonial cum doughnuts are common-or-garden and be inundated with links. Or ignored altogether.

Now I want to see a fandom where ceremonial cum donuts are a common enough trope that people complain about the triteness of it all...

I'm not sure I understand what the wank is really about. Were authors of the stories upset at being identified by the horrible summaries (and if so, what did they expect when they actually wrote such things)? Or were the members of the rec comm upset that it was all a big joke and the person got a little smug about it?

Whatever the case, I found the summaries to be pretty damned funny. The whole idea could become a meme.

I think there's a mix of things. This person was posting requests to a ficsearch community for the most outlandish things she could think of--quite a few of which turned out to be real. The writers of the real fics felt mocked, and so did the people who spent time looking for stories that might not (or might) exist.

I can understand the irritation, but as fandom pranks go I think it's pretty harmless overall--and SGA is a notoriously cracky fandom, so this is kind of an homage in its weird way.

I've since decided that "lemon sodomites" are Dumbledore's real favorite candy. XD

Still... if they wrote things weird enough to qualify for those bizarre summaries... I dunno, I can't understand worrying so much about it. I can understand that the ones who did the research would feel a little put out. Digging through tons of fic for someone, in good faith, can be quite a task.

It might have been better just to find really cracky fics and then write crazy-ass summaries. Which is kind of fun.

*LOL* Oh that's just awesomely awful. XD
