Have you seen the National Geographic special on the background material for LOTR? There was a fantastic segment on the last living man in Finland (Karelia? - at the Russian border) who sang the Kalevala. It was amazing, and heartbreaking. I hate to think of all of the poetry we've lost.
I, for one, would love to have a "bardic poetry-chanting circle" -- I love reading poetry out loud - and definitely not my own.
