So...we finished Year Fourteen of the Good Omens Holiday Exchange! You know, just sticking with something this long is a reward in itself. The new TV series will change this fandom a lot (oh please Someone no purity wankers we do NOT need or want that), and I think it will bring in a lot of fresh blood and a lot of new takes on the characters, and that's going to be exciting to watch from the ground up.

But not that the fandom needs that help. For a fandom for one book published in 1990, it's still extremely healthy, from my POV.

Here's this year's Reveal/Masterlist. 46 brand-new works!

Here's the story that was written for me: A Man Upon the Land by Lilyaceae (Aziraphale/Crowley, other characters, rated T). The author combined two of my prompts - something nautical-themed, something inspired by folklore or fairy tales - and gave me a fantastic romantic high seas adventure, with Pirate Captain!Crowley and Selkie!Aziraphale. Beautiful, so very exciting and sweet and so much fun. (Also...Crowley's ship is called the Bentley. And it burns! Pirate Captain Hastur's ship is called the King In Yellow. I mean....!!! being that perfect should be illegal.)

Here's the story I wrote for Staubengel: The Other Thing With Feathers (at AO3; A/C, rated T) (original post at DW: https://go-exchange.dreamwidth.org/234735.html). I also combined two prompts - something involving bodyswap and something with a lot of focus on WINGS!! In the aftermath of an unfortunate bodyswap incident, Aziraphale and Crowley discover some things that still need some recalibration - including the nature of their relationship. Wing-grooming, yo.

Huge thanks to all the participants, and the other mods, and all the beta-readers and pinch-hitters, all of whom make this possible and still a joy after all these years.

Now it can be told! My fic for the Good Omens Holiday Exchange 2015!

(Fest masterlist is here - check it out, 30-some new pieces of GO fic and art!)

The Reason for the Season

Pairing: Aziraphale/Crowley
Rating: NC-17/E
Warnings: None really
Summary: Adam and Pepper, now married with children of their own, worry that their kids might be losing some of the magic of the season. Adam calls in a little favour from some old friends - with a nice little bonus that's in it for them. Established relationship A/C, a little fluff, a little comedy, a little Bentley smut.

Written for AJ Crowlor in the 2015 Good Omens Holiday Exchange

Recurring Slope Lineae" at AO3

Grown-up Adam can still make things happen, if he isn't careful - but the things he finds too important to mess with, those are the real miracles.

I wrote two stories this year:

New Skin for the Old Ceremony
(Aziraphale/Crowley, NC-17) for [livejournal.com profile] aten_ra
A bit of a crossover with the Dresden Files series; spoilers for Death Masks. You probably don't need to know those books to read this, though. It's mostly porn. Shapeshifter sex, xenokink, snake fetish...arguably slightly bordering on bestiality, from a certain point of view. Oral and intercrural sex. Ophidian masturbation. Title comes from an album by Leonard Cohen.

Not Always the Same Joke (Aziraphale/Crowley, OFC/OFC, PG) for [livejournal.com profile] cinaed
Two teen angels who met their Maker in the '80s (and gave themselves angelic names after Jello Biafra and Siouxsie Sioux) are sent back to Earth to re-establish contact with one of Heaven's agents and to keep an eye on kids. Inspired by the song Alleluia, by Dar Williams.

GOE reveal yesterday!

I wrote this:
Their Satanic Majesties Request
for [livejournal.com profile] thilia
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Crowley/Aziraphale
Request: Crowley/Aziraphale, AU - or not? Crowley is a rockstar, Aziraphale is his groupie. Any rating. combined with: UST (resolved in the end), getting-together fic rather than established relationship, angst, humour, smoking, drinking, possessiveness, focus on the romance part of the story, plot AND smut, dirty talk, flirting, witty banter, dub-con, seduction, kissing, first time, manipulative bastard!Crowley (but still sweet, in his way)
Summary: Aziraphale and Crowley’s Arrangement stayed in comfortable stasis for a thousand years. It only took one decade to change it forever. (Crowley and Aziraphale do The Sixties--or do The Sixties do them?)
Warnings: Drug use and consensual sex under the influence.

I stumbled a bit over the "groupie" part, and for a long time I struggled with this story, it was all Crowley being a reluctant grumbly rock star, and Aziraphale was barely in it. Eventually, though he found his own ways in -- as he does--and I think he turned out to be very much the backbone of the tale.

This is more or less the 60s AU (sort of) I've been wanting to write for years.

I've had a few people ask me about the 60s rock jokes and references, so I'm putting some notes about that, and some fine mood-setting YouTube videos, behind a cut.

Have You Ever Been Experienced? )

More as I remember them. Feel free to ask questions.

Title: A Prayer for Making Brothers
Author: [livejournal.com profile] vulgarweed
Fandom: Good Omens
Pairing/Characters: Aziraphale-centric, also Aziraphale/Crowley and a scene with Penemue, a semi-fallen angel who appears in angelogical lore but not in Good Omens.
Rating: PG-13
Prompt: A character finds a way to reconcile their faith and sexuality.

Summary: Angels don’t have faith the way humans do; the existence of God is a given. Aziraphale still has his feathers very ruffled over the matter of his sexuality; after all, as an angel, he’s probably not supposed to have one at all. Desire didn’t do the Watchers, who Fell for desire for human women, any favors. But it’s certainly not human women Aziraphale wants – does that make it better or worse? And is he actually gay, demisexual, or just all too specific?
A/N: Huge thanks to my beta [livejournal.com profile] quantum_witch. Title lifted from John Boswell's Same-Sex Unions in Premodern Europe.

A Prayer for Making Brothers

Late, as always, but still wiggled it in during Pride Month!

Latest post on [livejournal.com profile] go_exchange. Go look. Go see. If you missed it, it's a masterlist of 40 brand-new Good Omens fics, art pieces, and comics that are currently exclusive.

I wrote The Speck In the London Eye (fic, Aziraphale/Crowley, R) for [livejournal.com profile] danny_sama.

This was the first year we decided to change the system up at GOE and have people choose prompts. I know this worked very well for some people, and not as well for others. We're going to put a post up at GOE in the next couple days, to get feedback about people's feelings about the new system.

BAZMÊLO SOBÔLN

For [livejournal.com profile] quantum_witch on her birthday, 2010

Crossover: Good Omens/Supernatural
Rating: PG
Characters/Pairing: Aziraphale, other angels, Castiel, Crowley. Gen-ish; Aziraphale/Crowley definitely implied, Castiel/Dean implied if you squint
Summary: There’s a new sheriff in town, and he knows how to handle two legendary outlaws.
Author’s Notes: The title means “Midday in the West” in Enochian. Feel free to translate “Midday” as “High Noon” if you like; this story is a Western. Inspired by various art pieces by [livejournal.com profile] 22by7: this, this, and this. And these by Slinky Milinky: New Sheriff In Town
and An Ocean Where Dreams Reflect

Midday in the West )
vulgarweed: (ineffablelove_by_cinnamonblood)
Well, I failed pretty thoroughly at the Dreamwidth Kink Bingo game this time around - except I did manage one story for amnesty just a few hours before deadline, so I'm not disqualified for the next one.

Virtue, Ever Vigilant

Fandom: Good Omens
Pairing: Aziraphale/Crowley
Kink: Sleepy/unconscious

zzzz. makes me want a nap. a very special nap.

Now it can be told: I wrote Seven Signs, Seven Seals (Delivered - I'm Yours!) for [livejournal.com profile] htebazytook. She's one of my favorite writers in the fandom, so it was awesome to get to write for her, especially since she offered up a prompt that played right to my weaknesses. Crowley and Aziraphale are unleashed on the 2008 Presidential election.

(I thought this would be super-obvious, especially considering my Yuletide story, but no one guessed it.)

Ficlets!

vulgarweed: (dont_try_by_cinnamonblood)
When I wrote this post a little while back about being stuck, some folks gave me the excellent advice of writing something slightly cracky and playful...

Three Maids and an Angel (Don’t Walk Into a Bar)

Three Aziraphale-centric GO Crossovers in Three Ficlets.
Rating: PG on principle.
Summary: Little girls everywhere get warned about the dangers of harmless-looking strange gentlemen, but no one ever warns such a “gentleman” about very strange girls.

The first was inspired by a prompt from [livejournal.com profile] catherinecookmn. The second by a convo with [livejournal.com profile] scholar_asriel. The third is dedicated to the memory of one of my favorite writers when I was a kid--I might not love stories so much without her.

...that has such people in it... )

Gotta go out real soon (don't wanna!), but enjoy while I'm gone!

The wonderful thing about [livejournal.com profile] oxoniensis's Porn Battle series is that there are SO many prompts, SO many fandoms, SO many pairings (and moresomes), SO many possibilities.

It's a fantastic opportunity to try one's hand at something new--characters, fandoms, pairings, situations, I'd never even dreamed of writing before. Something completely different. A new adventure.

This was not that day, however.

Dark and Stormy Night. (Good Omens, Aziraphale/Crowley, prompts: rain, wings, Eden)

Oh well. At least I played with a slightly different style.

Other fandoms tempting me at the moment are His Dark Materials, Gormenghast, 3:10 to Yuma, Flight of the Conchords, and just maybe, This Is Spinal Tap.

Let me take this opportunity to urge EVERYONE to participate. You've got til Sunday. You've got the space of a comment box for your swive-by.

Prosperous's Books
for [livejournal.com profile] japanimaniac13

historical; Agnes Nutter/Thou-Shalt-Not-Commit-Adultery Pulsifer, Aziraphale/Crowley, PG-13

Summary: "For all that history will remember [the great fire of London] might as well also burn the books Agnes will not have written." I like to think she was making choices all the time, about the future as well as the present, even if she didn't understand them fully. This one was difficult, but pivotal.

Author's Note: I wanted to see if I could go off my beaten track, if anyone would still know it was me if I didn't tell them. Apparently, no one did. I have mixed feelings about this.

wow, Saturday night is a graveyard on LJ.

I've had kind of a grueling week. Nothing terrible happened, just a lot of stress and work. The slow sandpaper grind, y'know.

But congratulations to Al Gore! Is there anyone else ever who has won an Oscar, an Emmy, a Nobel Peace Prize and a Presidential election?

And I got a fabulous surprise boost from [livejournal.com profile] quantum_witch: New Art! Detente, the Illustrated Version at [livejournal.com profile] switchythings. (Locked to members, so you know it's smut.)

I may go out later. I may go to bed early. It all depends on who's buyin', cause I sure can't.

Fic meme!

Sep. 12th, 2007 08:44 pm

I suggested this meme to [livejournal.com profile] musegaarid a while back and am only now getting round to enacting it myself.

The Babel-Drabble!

Here's the deal. Take one of your posted fics and use Google's translator or Babelfish to translate it into the language of your choice and then back into English. Pick out the best line(s) of the new story and write a drabble. Post your drabble on your journal and tag five friends to do the same.

"THAT WHAT YOU MEANS YOU WERE WITH SALADIN!" Under Crowley, a peddler angry it has given of soccer to its ass.

"It wasn't with Saladin that I learned," Aziraphale said. Really, Crowley's devotion to donkey football was rather embarrassing.

"Hmph," said Crowley. "Those Arabs liked their horses way too much if you ask me."

"NOT WITH HE WITH HE! IT OBTAINS YOUR MIND FROM THE GRONDAIA, YOU PERVERTITO OF PERDITIOUS!" The given ass of soccer behind.

"Grondaia?" asked Crowley, puzzled.

"Well, heads wound up in gutters all the time when I played the real game. Honestly, I was rather good," Aziraphale said defensively, thinking fondly of the particularly brutal form of Afghani polo that involved sheep corpses when times were lean, although human heads rolled a lot better.

***

I tag [livejournal.com profile] dreya_uberwald, [livejournal.com profile] celandineb, [livejournal.com profile] bethbethbeth, [livejournal.com profile] argyleheir, and [livejournal.com profile] maggiehoneybite. But I'd love to see these from ANY AND ALL OF YOU.
