Nope, no turkey. The Kitty-Boy and I just have to be who we really are: domestically-challenged youngish urbanites whose parents live in different time zones. Who the hell flies "home" for one friggin' day? And we have the traditional Thanksgiving refuge of our kind: Chinatown. I give thanks for restauranteurs who are smart enough to know how much business can be got by staying open on Thanksgiving.

(Besides, his parents live in Canada. We were there for their Thanksgiving.)

Saw Solaris last night. It was actually way better than I expected. We both liked the Russian original so much I was deeply worried about the Hollywood version, but I think they pulled it off, by focusing mostly on the relationship aspect and the desperate guilt and redemption-craving of George Clooney's character. And yes, he does have a nice ass. I still need to read the Stanislaw Lem book. If I know a movie is based on a good book, I never feel I've "gotten it" until I've read the book - I can't imagine what I would have made of the movie versions of Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings or Possession if I hadn't read the books first.

Made some nice headway on "The Ring and the Crown" last night: my protagonist is starting to make a good deal of sense to me, which is slightly worrisome. And Sauron just made his first appearance, in wolf form. Baroooooo. (I will NOT x-over-slash him with Remus Lupin, NO.)
