The long and short of my day...

Bad news/boring bureaucracy rant first: No, apparently I can't get a state ID unless I have a copy of my actual Social Security card (never mind all the pay stubs and tax receipts and bank statements that have it pastede on yay blazoned everywhere for the identity thieves to nip). Who the fuck has their original Social Security card? News flash: My parents didn't save my umbilical cord in formaldehyde either.

fan_the_vote is going strong. (Pimp, pimp).

The idea is to harness the massive creative power of fandom to get the Poser POTUS tossed out on his C average chickenhawk keister come November. Scads of volunteers have descended on the community to offer fannish services (custom fics, illustrations, icons, beta-reading, web design, etc.); they will be "sponsored" in these services in the form of small donations to the either the Kerry campaign or Moveon.org (for non-Americans, donations have also been accepted to Red Cross/Red Crescent, Amnesty International, Doctors Without Borders, and the like--international NGOs helping to mitigate Bush Administration damage).

I sponsored tyellas for the scary, raunchy Melkor/Sauron story I've always wanted to read, and it's done! here is the entry at voteworks. Go read, go tremble, go comment! (Mind the warnings; she ain't kidding.) And help keep the Dark Lords in sexual fantasies fiction where they belong!
