Got called back to work at the PWR. Am enjoying it, but so tired.
I expected the results in VA and NJ. Deeds ran a crappy campaign and Corzine was not popular. It happens.
What REALLY pissed me off was Maine. Why on the Goddess's green earth are we still putting basic human rights up for majority vote? Either the rights to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" are "inalienable" or they're not! The majority has historically ALWAYS been on the wrong side of history, because our country has always had large masses of superstitious, hateful wingnut fuckheads. There are many states where, if you put the right of women to vote and hold jobs on a referendum, it would lose. There are many states where, if you put the right of black people to go to the same schools and drink from the same water fountains as white people on a referendum, it would lose.
Yes, millions of bigotry fans can be wrong, and usually are. Loving v. Virginia, 1967. Read it, eat it, love it, incorporate it into your thought processes, and go on from there.
Oh, and Obama? You know I love you. But I want to see some of that fire and energy and eloquence about basic human equality when you're speaking to people OTHER than the Human Rights Campaign and Ellen DeGeneres on the LOGO channel. Some of that time you flushed down the toilet stumping for Jon "Goldman Sachs" Corzine might have been better spent in Maine, if you really believe any of your campaign speeches. Just saying. Take it as constructive criticism from a friend, mmkay?
