lgbtfest! Remix! Squee! Panic!
2. Can we have that panfandom moratorium on "Hallelujah" now? (No, not the Handel one). Any lines, any version. I don't care how well you think it fits your angsty pairing, it's trite. It's the Mary Sue of songfics, fanart, and icons. Leonard Cohen is spinning in his grave, which is quite a feat as he's still alive. Even though it all went wrong, you'll stand before the Lord of Song with nothing on your tongue but "I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I heard it in Shrek/on some CW teen drama/at the Olympics Opening Ceremonies and I just had to use it. I thought I was the first one ever to quote it, I really did!"
3. Dean/Castiel writers. What is it with you and the phrase "blown pupils"? This phrase isn't endemic to any other fandom or pairing to nearly the same degree, and once I've noticed it popping up in the first few dozen PWPs, I can't ever unnotice it again. I GET it. People's eyes dilate when they're sexually aroused, and both of them have pretty eyes. I GET that. I'm FINE with that. But can't you phrase it any other way? Ever? Especially since we're dealing with a canon where THE MEREST GLIMPSE OF AN ANGEL'S TRUE FORM BURNS PEOPLE'S EYES OUT?
ETA: When I stare at the phrase "blown pupils" long enough, it doesn't lose meaning, it changes meaning. Now it's got nothing to do with eyes at all. It's a reason for a teacher to be fired.
4. Let's talk about kink memes. I just got a really sweet message from someone writing a paper about kink memes, who wants to quote my phrase "textual glory hole." Of course she may. But it's making me a little sad, because kink memes with pages and pages of requests and very few fills are the textual version of sad, lonely cocks stuck through a hole in the toilet wall, just waiting for someone to come along and play with them....and no one does. The poor cocks. They're like sad puppies. Won't someone think of them? (Hopefully in a sexier way than this mental image.) Now, I may be hypocritical here, because one thing I like to do is toss out lots of requests on kink memes. Some of them are things I'm not even all that wildly into - just stuff I think would be interesting. I want to inspire people.
