Those of you who've fandom-known me for a long time might know that [livejournal.com profile] mctabby was the one who badgered (and lioned and eagled and snaked) me to get an LJ in the first place, and that I've been an admirer of her Summary Executions for as long as she's been doing them, which is several years now.

So I was feeling a little MEAN GIRLZ this evening and went to see if Good Omens fandom could ever have such a wonderful thing.

Alas, the answer's probably no. For one thing, there are only 28 pages of fics at the Pit, and half of them are by people I know. While there are quite a few summaries that I wouldn't click on a bet, there's just very little that even comes close to the inspired WTFery of "HPLotR Xover. Flames not accepted. COMPLETE! Harry is Gandalf, Hermione is Sauron. Gandalf loves Sauron, but does Sauron love him back? Obviously not slash. Those who have been begging me to finish it, your dreams have come true! RR pwease!" or subtle trainwrecks like "Brianne, Dawn, Lily and the Mauraders have become a tight nit group." or unintentional metacommentary brought on by punctuation accidents like "Hermione and Ginny love almost nothing to do with HBP" or "Harry thinks about Christmas Mpreg." There IS a little bit of tone-deaf wangst poetry, like the sort that is the source of my icon, but...meh. I'd have to lower standards to amass enough for a proper SE: GO Edition post.

I did find this minimalist gem, though:

Crowely/Aziralphe

Yup, that's the whole summary. And it did indeed tell me everything I needed to know about the fic.

Aziralphe! It kind of has a ring to it. I like it a lot better than 'Aziraphael.' I'll keep it in mind for that AU where they're American sitcom characters.

You like me better when I shut up and write porn, don't you?

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] isiscolo has a proposal worthy of the Tempter himself!

Wait a minute, you're complaining that there isn't enough badfic in your fandom? Here, you can have some of ours. We're happy to share the misery.

Oh, there's badfic, for sure. But there's not enough of the so bad it's genius kind.

Aziralphe, but we call him Ralph for short.

Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!!!!!

Didn't every sitcom between the 50s and the 70s have a character named Ralph?

I literally cannot stop laughing over the HPLotR Xover summary..

Gandalf loves Sauron, but does Sauron love him back?

This is hysterical!

Obviously not slash! It can't be...if...Hermione is Sauron. *brain breaks*

I don't suppose you could provide a link to the 'Gandalf loves Sauron' fic?

Just kidding.

Running into the writers by accident is always a problem in a small fandom. Sigh.

I'm sure [livejournal.com profile] mctabby can!

IIRC, McT used to friendslock them, but they got too popular, and I think she finally decided 'If you didn't want be laughed at on the internet, you should put down the crack pipe and proofread." Fortunately for us, not enough people have chosen this wise course of action, for SE is at 42 installments now and going strong. And in a Pit section as nuclear-monstrously huge as HP, there's no such thing as bad publicity.

ROTFLMAO! Well, you may not have provided summary executions, but you gave me a good belly laugh anyway. *g*

My work here is done!

Oh wait, not quite.

Pretty strait forward. Crowley's got the hots for Aziraphale and Aziraphale doesn’t notice. fun stuff some drug use some sex it’s all good. mostly thought I love the college classes. there the best. but those come later. some lang. you know M is coming.

My first thought was, who's M?

Deathfic, slash. It tastes like he knew it would.

Tortured pixels? They has a flavor? *licks screen* No, not really.

Several thousand years of friendship was ruined in a single week, proving that love is of unknown origin. Will this story have an ending? Short moody drabble. AxC or Aziraphale X Crowley Rated simply for adult concepts and nothing more.

Nice. A drabble with that will-this-story-ever-end feeling. That's an achievement!

(Adult concepts?)

Zira and Crawl reveal their true colors literally. Very mild slash.

KILL IT WITH FIRE.

Please, he whispers, and Aziraphale seems to relenet. Can be read as some slashy bits.

I think you misspelled "rennet." 'Cause something smells like pure cheese.

I used to spend a lot of time looking for Sauron slash. It was amazingly hard to find.

It's true about publicity. For every awful fic there's at least one favourable comment. Some of the anime fandoms would be well-served by that sort of publicity. Hmmm....

I know, ain't it?

I was thinking about what kind of badfic summaries reach the SE-worthy heights, and I was thinking about that LOTR Xover...see, an ordinary badficcer might think of doing that with a Dumbledore/Voldemort pairing. And it would be awful, but it would be awful in a predictable, logical way. Making it Harry/Hermione is that extra leap of genius inverted that is, dare I say it, a certain ineffability that so many other fandoms are largely lacking.

That is exactly what I was thinking. OMG. The cognitive dissonance of calling him "Ralph" is too much for my tiny tiny brain.

Hmm, I have an idea for you. Last year, [livejournal.com profile] ds_flashfiction did a Badfic Summary-a-thon somewhat reminiscent of [livejournal.com profile] mctabby's Blame Someone Else fest: participants commented to the sign-up post with an invented summary worthy of execution, and then the mods mixed them up and assigned them out, and we all had two weeks, I think, to write something. There were some truly inspired stories, some purported excerpts of larger ones, some ficlets, some imitation badfic, some total crackfic - it was a lot of fun.

You can see the setup, prompts and stories: http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=ds_flashfiction&keyword=Badfic+Challenge&filter=all

Maybe you should run one of these for GO?

Oooo, I loved the Blame Someone Else fest. I wrote a Harry/Remus cannibalism fic for that. And that is a sublime idea, my dear!

Huh, you wrote cannibalism TOO? That was the fest I wrote Four Funerals and a Wedding (the Hermione as black widow one). Ah, HP, you wacky fandom.
