Hee! Even down here on the other side of the world, we're all beside ourselves with excitement and relief.

Oh, I'm sure most of the world is breathing deeper right now.

(I got weepy many times tonight; one of them was when the CNN jumbotron feed showed footage of a celebration in Kenya)

I ENVY YOU SO MUCH RIGHT NOW.

That must have been amazing. Rapturous. Wonderful.

*hugs* Did you have a good time? :)

Yes! Yes!

It was a ginormous crowd of nearly a million people, but way kinder and more gracious than that of, say, any big rock concert I've ever been to.

THe most moving moment for me is when VA was called. I called my mom immediately to shriek with joy with her (she's been canvassing her ass off in Carroll County six days a week). That happened to be the state that put us over the top, so the crowd was going so nuts we couldn't hear each other at all.

Later I ran out my cell phone battery so she could hear his speech live. (There was a little loaves-and-fishes miracle happening, because it was in the red when he stated. :D)

*SQUEES LIKE MAD AGAIN* I tried to scream on my balcony, but my voice wouldn't work, I was so choked up. I did play 1812 Overture rather loudly though, with my door open, so I'm sure a few neighbours were disturbed. Heh.

I was fucking DREAMING about Obama the entire five hours I managed to keep my eyes closed last night. I am overwhelmed and thrilled to my core, so much that the utter exhaustion hasn't hit me (yet). I finally woke up when I started dreaming of a debate between Obama and McCain that devolved into a "Yo Mama's So Fat" contest, and they both stared blankly at the moderator and said "Uh, our mother's are both dead, you know". At least I woke up grinning.

Happy Guy Fawkes Day, viva la revolucion, etc.

AHAHAHAHAHAH a Yo Mama contest. :D McCain's mother is actually, incredibly enough, still alive though. She's in her 90s and seems sharper and more lucid than her son sometimes. (And she's skinny.)

I do have the most bizarre dreams XD I actually didn't know about McCain's mom. Amazing.

I did grin at Biden's little old mom coming onstage with them all. So sad that Obama's grandmother didn't make it... but I hear she DID put in an early ballot anyway. Go granny.

I wish both of Obama's parents were here to see it too. HIs mother especially died way too young. (And I believe he's serious about the health coverage issue, because she had ovarian cancer and was struggling with paperwork to the very end just trying to avoid leaving her children in debt. :()

There's an amazing picture linked from the official Obama web site of pics from the election night, and one of Barack staring into the TV screen with something vaguely resembling a deer-in-the-headlights look, and Michelle's mom has her hand on his knee as if to say, 'don't worry - I know if you're good enough for my daughter, you're good enough for the country. :D

YEEEEEHAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's about time we went back to some sense of normalacy in the World today... but lets keep an eye on gas prices now. It was 2.299 when I went to bed...Lets see if it goes up after the election now that the Republi-cry-babies have lost.

Haven't a clue - my dirty little secret is how utterly I fail as a "real American" because I don't drive and don't own a car; I live in Chicago so I don't have to. :D
