Whoa, [livejournal.com profile] switchythings has 250 members!

How'd that happen?

[livejournal.com profile] quantum_witch, I guess we're BNFs now. We better get to oppressing people.

Any volunteers? Let us show you the violence inherent in the system! (I know some of you are into that kind of thing.)

(Seriously, we gotta celebrate somehow.)

Of course you can be, lackey. I realize you're double-timing the Duke, but I am amoral and don't care, and it'll make for a great flame war when he finds out. I bet he would love to make Fandom_Wank.

Yes, and we'll undoubtedly be Wanked constantly now, since we've Arrived. Ah, woe. I'd better start my whinging in advance...

After years of reading FW regularly for the LULZ, I've observed the very best wanks, the ones that really keep on giving, tend to involve:

1. Some truly whacked combination of sockpuppetry, trolling, stalking, identity displacement, and Munchausen by Internet.

2. Plagiarism

3. Ship wars.

And none of these work for us:

1. Too much WORK.

2. Too icky.

3. Not Applicable for our fandom. Who, pray tell, would the A/C crowd have a ship war with?

1. Internet Munchausen - that is truly rich XD
2. Smacks upside the head are my only response to that crap.
3. I don't even understand what a ship war is. I feel so ignorant.

1. The best cases of those type are the ones that also involve real sex, real money, or both. XD

3. A ship war is when the frenzied supporters of two different ships go at each other with a frenzy (the classic example is Harry/Hermione and Ron/Hermione shippers duking it out to the death in HP fandom) complete with accusations of rampant OOCness, appeals to the creator of the canon to settle the matter (and throwing tantrums if she does), massive duelling essays of canon "evidence" for each one, etc....

But when there's only one 'ship that makes up some 80% of the fanworks, and hardly anyone seriously ships either of its halves with anyone else, a good ship war is all but impossible to get off the ground. I suggested to [livejournal.com profile] linnpuzzle once that we go around to other fandoms and attack random ships out of the blue like pirates.

Ah, I see. I guess since I never got involved in any other fandom as seriously as GO, I missed out on the bloody goodness. I think I'm glad.

I've never been in a serious shipwar. I shipped oddball pairings in LOTR and Snape/Anybody in HP (and that niche of the fandom is, as you can imagine, snark central) and have never really had a serious OTP before A/C (but even then I'm not a true OTPer by some definitions, as stories featuring one of them with somebody else don't make me physically ill or psychically violent.)

I do love watching the wank comms. They're very educational.

You could always try marrying one of the characters on the astral plane. As I recall there was a bit of a to do a while ago with a group of woman who claimed to be enjoying intimate relations with one Severus Snape on a higher level of consciousness.

Hm. Aziraphale and Crowley both just looked at me like I was utterly cracked. (As well they should). The fact that I seemed to have interrupted something important up there on the astral plane couldn't've helped their mood either.

Guess it'll have to be that Antichrist then.

Well, Adam does seem to have a tremendous sense of fun. However given his resolution not to mess people about, you'd probably have trouble convincing him to turn your fandom enemies into weevils (though he might be game for sending anonymous flames to any who dare to, say, question your characterisation).

I'm not so sure it'd be easy to get such a mild-mannered lad to do any of that, but once he did, when Adam flames you, you stay flamed.

I think he might just make it so that the person who went after me was never born. Easier that way for everyone really.

and also, the truth about Snape

The Severus Snape I enjoy intimate relations with on the astral plane mocked those crazy women incessantly for their atrocious poetry and their cloying notions about romance. He's not even that great a lay but he's good at really disgusting dirty talk.

He never really struck me as a hearts and flowers kind of guy either... well, maybe if they were mashed up, boiled, filtered, distilled and carefully combined with a pinch of gilliweed, touch of dragon's liver and 20ccs of Manticore's milk.

That's exactly how he likes them. :)

Also? SO not the marryin' kind. More like the "That was...adequate. Now leave." kind.
