That last storm just blew my window in. Not breaking it - popped it right out of the frame, with sheets of rain pouring in! Fortunately, Phil, the handyman downstairs neighbor was in - what a sweetheart. Put a screw on it so that won't happen again. I owe him a cake!

*looks up at sky* Oh boy, another one!

Ran into [livejournal.com profile] divinetailor downtown earlier - turned on the Powers of Persuasion for G's gig at the Darkroom tomorrow night. Lee squee!

And y'all?

I take it you are in the northern midwest. The rain really has been pouring down on us hasn't it?

Good call! Where am I? The Windy City, of course. Oh bloody hell, the clouds coming this way are purple and teal. It's very pretty, but very evil.

Really?! I was just there! Driving in that city is horrendous. But I did run into this amazing store, Alien Entertainment, which has an over abundance of action figures and the like. Twas quite fun. Purple and Green you say? Oh dear.

Oh lord yes. WOuldn't wish it on anyone, at least as far as the Loop goes. On the other hand, though, I've lived here for 15 years without a car and never really felt I needed one. (I'm pretty close to downtown.) I've never been to that store! I'll have to check it out!

This storm's gonna be a mother. I've got big west windows so...guilty pleasure, I love storms. I watch weather porn all the time. :)

Well, with the subway system there, why would you need a car? ...Though, you might have a hard time getting to Alien Entertainment, seeing as it's not actually in the city, but a suburb. but if you can find a way, you should.

Ah, weather porn. Good stuff that.

Yeah, pretty much. Subways, buses, the occasional cab indulgence. :) I get by.

The Weather Channel is one of my favorite TV-background things. That and C-SPAN2. *is geek*

^_^ Do you by any chance watch Stargate? Cause if you did, I think you would really like Jonas Quiin.

I really should. I've seen a few episodes of SG:A so I can understand all the porn on my friendslist and thought it was cool; I should try the original.

Yowza! I'm glad you got it fixed fast! Did it damage anything important?

It didn't damage anything at all - just knocked over a stereo speaker and a floor lamp and let the rug get a little damp and gave me a bit of a shock, that's all.

Yike! I'm glad you weren't hurt! Friends of mine had their windows blown out (fortunately they weren't hurt.) The windows in my apartment started to buckle at around four PM, but everything held, though there are downed trees all over the place and we keep losing power.

Erm, I wonder if that loose screw actually saved you some broken glass? The pressure of that wind was UNBELIEVABLE. *still cowering*

I remember the rattling and shaking. They just said on WGN that there were 74-mph winds on the North side. I'm glad your friends are OK (and you have power - a lot of people don't.)

It possibly did save some broken glass. I've got one of those Victorian bay-window deals - and I'm on the 3rd floor facing west without much shelter to speak of. I get a nice view of the storms, but that's a double-edged sword for sure.

Supposed to be more tomorrow.

Oh, wow ... okay, if it blew over the stereo, I'm guessing I know which window it was. Glad nothing was damaged, and the thing got fixed right smartly!

It's gone from Autumn Cool to Bloody Muggy here in the course of the past, say, 24 hours -- it feels like waiting for a storm that you know ain't coming.

Keep well, eh?

Not the whole stereo, just one of the speakers. It was the middle one, the biggest - straight-on western exposure, no shelter at all. During a storm like this, being in the apartment is like being in a car going through a car-wash. XD

Good luck with the Muggy - we've got some of that tomorrow. And then some more storms! Send us some of that cool autumn stuff down from Canuckistan soon, OK?

I'll send you some if I can, dear, but from here I'm fighting the prevailing westerlies .... 8P

OMG. *Clings so VW will not blow away* It was terribly hot and muggy earlier, but enjoyably cool and rainy later. Some breeziness but nothing that could take out a window! O_o

Purple and Teal? yowza!

*wide eyed* Windows can do that? *eyes own windows nervously*

Glad it didn't do any worse damage than that.

It was absolute madness! I work on the 15th floor, and we were all staring out the windows in terror.

I'm glad your window debacle didn't destroy anything!

Wow! Thank gooness you weren't hurt, and that your nice handyman neighbor was able to get the window reinstalled quickly.

My folks told me a tornado hit Chicago's north side the other night. We had a rotating wall cloud with 70 mph wind gusts blow over central Omaha on Monday night (fortunately for us it didn't spawn a twister, but it still did a lot of damage). What the hell is going on with the weather right now? You'd think it was June, not almost September!
