This seems to be a lament I make a lot lately, but I need motivational help with my WIPs. It's not that I don't love them. It's just that I've lived with them so long, and been distracted away from them so often by work (responsibilities still increasing at both jobs) that I can barely see them any more.

Which of these three Good Omens WIPs would you like to see an excerpt from in the next 24 hours?

[Poll #1195239]

Option 1 is the sequel to "Messenger of Sympathies," begun way back in 2005 (my attention span, she is long). Setting: The USA and CSA, 1861-1865.

Option 2 is the sequel to "Breathless Mouths May Summon" and a prequel to "The Phoenix and the Turtle." Setting: the Silk Road/Mongol Empire, 13th and 14th centuries, from Turkey to Thailand.

Option 3 is a contemporary-setting standalone, another irreverent snipe at the angst-about-Falling subgenre.

I hate the attention-whoring I'm doing, but I need to get back to the [livejournal.com profile] wrisomifu practice of just 10 minutes a day, and it would help me to get some gentle nudging. (Or even some animalistic poking, cause you know I like it like that.)

(ETA: I suppose I ought to add, to no one's surprise, all of them are A/C and adult-rated. 'Cause that's how I roll.)

Do we have to vote, because they all sound good to me. I'd love to read any or all of them.
If you *really* need a clear winner to get motivated then I'll vote.

...weird, I just got a strong wave of deja vu as I typed that...

You don't HAVE to vote - the hope is that they will all get finished someday. :D It'd be fun though. Just go with your gut. If you got deja vu, what did you do the first time?

The first time? I seemed to recall typing exactly what I just typed...which is what makes it deja vu, right? Although I really don't think there actually was another time, I think it's more like a temporally displaced memory.

Edit: OK I voted

Don't take my vote too seriously, it was a random choice. Any of these will make me one very happy fox.

well, as I have been lucky enough to see a snippet of #2, I'd love to see more!

ps. and if you really get motivated, I'd welcome the opportunity to give anything a good lookover- my life is about to get a little less hectic after tomorrow... but that should only last for about 4 weeks b/c babybean#2 is on her way.

I voted for the shockingly unpopular #1 because I've been imagining sequels to Messenger of Sympathies ever since I first read it. Despite being relatively short, it's a very powerful story. It is, in my opinion, the richest thing you've written so far, and there's a lot hinted at that I would love to see further explored.

And, remembering my manners, I do hope things calm down soon on the job front.
