who'd have thought my most comment-generating post in months would be about...hand sanitizer?

Going a little loopy because it's just hit me that my Mom's coming to town tomorrow. She'll be staying at my friend M's apartment (M's away for the summer), and she'll be teaching a workshop and she's got two late-night performances at some hookah cafe in Wicker Park.

Gotta get the place cleaned up a little. Oh, and I have two work shifts between now and then. GYAAAH.

Yes - a dancer. Belly dance, primarily. She travels all over the world teaching seminars (when I got to go to Thailand and Malaysia a couple years back, it was as her passenger and wardrobe assistant), and wherever she goes, she takes some, so by now she can teach a variety of styles including various Latin (Brazilian, Cuban, Puerto Rican, Mexican), beginning Flamenco, Polynesian, Eastern European Roma, Armenian, Bollywood, etcetera....

It's intimidating, but I admire her so much!

Wow, that's *so cool*!!! TMHM's mom was a professional belly dancer for a time -- but nothing like the level you're describing. When he was in high school he lived in Iran for 2 years, so she studied while she was there, and performed casually for a few years, mostly for small gatherings & whatnot. Your mom sounds fantastic! If she's ever doing anything in the Philly area let me know so I can go see her dance! Hell, if she's teaching any workshops around here, I'd do that too. So cool! Wow! (smile)
