vulgarweedBig fat geek "I'm sorry" to those I've been less-than-present for recently, in both fandoms (particularly to Les Femmes, Henneth-Annun, Morgul-Steel, LJ flist).
I've been playing la-la-la-not-listening to my own damn writer's block, I'm afraid. It's not that the ideas aren't there--it's that the ability to slip into that sort of writing-trance isn't there; things are bumpy and inconsistent, and I'm not trusting the voices like I should be, nor am I trusting what comes out. This state is always shameful to me whenever it comes around, and makes me avoid out of that shame (which of course makes the situation worse).
I am hoping that the experience I had at Brigid's Flame last Friday (mucho thanks to <lj user="catbirdgirl") will help shake that loose and restore my confidence. I will try poking at some scenes in long-stalled projects tonight, including ones I've been reluctant to look at because of suckage (the rough draft of the sex scene in "Dark and Bright" makes my brain hurt, and the plotting of the revelations in "Sea Change" seem painfully awkward); I might also try some short pieces that have gnawing at me. Lately I've been seeing more female muse presences than usual. I think Luna Lovegood and Eowyn are talking about me in the girls' room. In other news, it occurs to me that the best thing about this year is that we can use the "Lick Bush" slogan again.

Date: 2004-02-05 07:11 am (UTC)Gee, if you need 'inspiration' I could always send you the extended scene of 'The Hospitality of Tirion' - you saw the start of it months ago with Herumor's little interlude with the elves, but the other day my nuzguls bit and I finished the scene. It explains why Herumor got in such trouble later.
And I liked "Sea Change", too! Don't listen to your unhappy voices, just write and edit later. I find that works for me.
