I may be sleeping at a bus stop before long, but I'll smell much better than the average bum.

Remember, a couple years ago I asked if anyone in the fic world had written or knew of a Lovecraft/Kerouac pastiche? (I mean a mashup of the two writers' styles and themes, not a slash fic. But I'd read that too!)

IT EXISTS! But it's not a fic, it's a book!

Move Under Ground, by Nick Mamatas ([livejournal.com profile] nihilistic_kid, and so far it is EVERYTHING I hoped it'd be.

Kerouac and Lovecraft are two writers it's incredibly easy to parody, and incredibly difficult to pastiche well with not-entirely-parodic intent, and Mamatas is rocking both my all-embracing beatnik heart and the part of my soul chilled black by the idiot void.

(Which BPAL am I wearing now? R'lyeh, of course!)

In other news, prompt-grabbing is open at [livejournal.com profile] lgbtfest: these prompts are made of 100% grass-fed free-range fair-trade win! (6 of them in 3 fandoms are mine - can you guess?) I'm looking for something really challenging to snag, and I think I see at least one that seems made for me that I doubt anyone else is likely to...
