I really don't get the Legolas fandom-frenzy. He's nice to look at, sure, but aside from the development of his friendship with Gimli, he's always seemed a bit flat to me. I have nothing against him. Just nothing in particular for him either.

Notice that most of his fans are purely interested in his looks. I don't know a single 'Orligirl' or female Legolas fan that's really interested in exploring his character.

Personally I always found Boromir to be the most interesting...

"Some of my best friends are Legolas fangirls!"

One has to feel rather sorry for the fangirls. I mean, even Tolkien said that he accomplished the least of the fellowship.

On the other hand, at least most fangirls are willing to admit that they only like him because he's pretty and does pretty stunts.

(And actually, my best friend IS a Legolas fangirl. Sigh.)

No, one doesn't have to feel sorry for them. I like to ignore and/or mock them. It's a highly personal choice. They're much like Draco fangirls...

Well, yes, but I was thinking twisted pity. Sort of like Gollum. Although I hope fangirls don't bite one's fingers off.

I like Gollum. I want to keep him as a pet - with the One Ring under glass and plenty of fish, how can I go wrong.

"Bite the bad man Gollum and I'll let you fondle the ring."
