Oh frak, I just signed up for Yuletide after weeks of thinking I wouldn't!

First off, THANK YOU. I am really looking forward to whatever it is you come up with, and most of all, I hope you enjoy writing the story.

Now, I love smut and romance and smutty romance, but all three fandoms are ones in which I would be totally happy with gen.

The only things I really don't want are non-con and non-canon character death. Avoid that and we're good. I don't really have a lot of squicks or triggers. (Dub-con is fine – in all my fandoms here we're dealing with heavy-drinking people with Issues and/or medieval Mongolian courtship customs, so...yeah.)

Lost Souls - Poppy Z Brite
I love, love, love Steve and Ghost, and I love the lushness and also the bits of wry humor that PZB used when writing about them. I think what I would love most of all is a road-trip story, with S & G traveling and playing at dive clubs and maybe running into some super-creepy legends-come-true. If you've read PZB's short story about them, "How to Get Ahead in New York," something along those lines. Or a monster-of-the-week Supernatural-episode-type story with Steve & Ghost and the T-Bird instead of Sam & Dean and the Impala. *grin* Anywhere in the country! Or in another country! Now, slash is totally canon here, so a little (or a lot) of that is always nice, but PG-rated mildly slashy/gen is just fine! You do not need to write smut to make me happy! (in any of these fandoms). But if you do, I like urgency, desperation, a little humor, a little mild consensual violence, a little sense of debauchery. (You know, like canon.)

Mongolian History RPF
OK, I have a total fascination with Central Asian steppe culture in general, especially shamanism and music (throat-singing!) and equestrian culture. So I'm totally into slice-of-life detail if you want to go that route, and I'd especially love a story about Epic Badass Börte. Not just anyone could be a match for Temujin, and she totally was - I'd love to see some of her adventures, with or without him around. Epic romance, also welcome. Smut? Sure, if you want. Just let me feel that wind through the grass and taste some of that airag!

Fairytale of New York (song)
I also have a fascination with NYC history - I have no idea when precisely this song is supposed to be set, but you have a lot of leeway to play with (as long as there are cars big as bars, of course). I'd love to hear about the lovers' journey to get there in the first place (from context I have always assumed they're Irish immigrants--are they?), I'd love to hear what happened after Christmas, I'd love their reminiscences when they're old. What neighborhood did they live in? Was she really a junkie or did he just say that? For that matter, you could also write about the old man in the drunk tank, or some of the boys in the NYPD choir, or any side characters. If you're familiar with the whole Pogues album 'If I Should Fall From Grace With God' feel free to use anything else from that album as a jumping-off point too. ("Turkish Song of the Damned" and "Broad Majestic Shannon" and "Thousands Are Sailing" and "Bottle of Smoke"...so many great story-songs) But don't feel pressured at all, if you just want to keep it simple, that's cool too.

Anyway. I don't have much of a list of "don'ts." I have faith in you, and I'm just so happy someone is going to write any of these for me.

I hope that's helpful to you, dear writer.
