So I want to archive all of my Good Omens kink meme fills on AO3.

There are a lot of them....so I don't want to post them all as separate fics. That's spammy as hell, especially in a small fandom, and it'll also make me look even more like a horndog with a short attention span than I already do.

Would it be a terrible thing to do to post them as "chapters" in one large "fic" file? I see a lot of people doing this. Objections?

Lots of people do things like that for short fics, even in different fandoms. There's even a tag for it, "Ficlet Collection".

The problem with doing this is that kudos have really replaced short feedback, and one can only kudos a fic a single time, rather than once per chapter.

If your kink meme fills are longer than drabbles, I'd make them separate fics. The thing to do to keep from being spammy is to backdate them, and to batch a given amount per day. That's what I'm doing with my old stories.

Hmmm. They're longer than drabbles (I'm a stickler on the drabble = 100 words exactly thing) but not by that much. My problem is I want to do this efficiently and not have huge chunks of the GO fic list being taken up by my short smutlets. If it was a bigger, more active fandom I wouldn't care so much.

Of course, considering that this week pretty much every single click I've made on AO3 has led to a 502 error, I rather doubt I'm going to be doing any archiving there any time soon.

Backdating doesn't help with spamming subscribers, but it's a good way to keep from spamming the fandom's index while still having the stories separated. I'm not particularly fond of many-stories-in-one because, if you only like one or two stories, you can't leave kudos on or bookmark just the ones you like.

ETA: Actually, if you wait about a week, spamming subscribers shouldn't be a big deal! I'm pretty sure subscription notifications are going to be batched and sent only once an hour rather than after posting each story.

It wouldn't be a terrible thing at all. That's actually how I archived all my [livejournal.com profile] dogdaysofsummer ficlets.

As a reader, I am thrilled when authors do this. It makes it very east to find a run through a bunch of drabbles or ficlets. I do know, that from a feedback point of view it's not so ideal.

I'm really leaning towards doing it this way. It just seems more efficient, less spammy, and more convenient for readers somehow?

Personally, I don't think there'd be a problem posting them all individually, but yeah...people combine drabbles all the time in umbrella posts on AO3, so why not?

No. I certainly do drabbles that way, although not usually longer stuff except for e.g. prompt table collections.

As a reader, I'd probably prefer if you had all your drabbles or short oneshots as 'chapters' in one big 'fic', but longer illustrated works like, say, Amid the Sacred Wreck (perhaps Breathless Mouths May Summon, if I recall the sequel's name correctly, as chapter 2?) as separate fics. :)

That's how I'm really leaning towards doing it. There's just too many, they're too thematically similar (GO + porn), and honestly? If I looked at my Works list and saw 25 porn ficlets and 25 actual longer stories that I spent much more time on...I would kind of feel like I was "padding," if that makes any sense.

LOL I just spammed like hell by posting all of my older stuff on AO3

I'd say chapters are a great idea if they're smaller fics, or even if they're not, really. And there's the collections option if you want to keep them all connected but post as separate fics
