I have the original, nicely framed - this picture's kind of bad and doesn't do it justice.

(runner-up: my boss, who gave me J.R.R. Tolkien - Author of the Century by Tom Shippey, and said it was "a little tolkien of his esteem.")

My mom used to paint a bit when I was a kid, but she kind of gave it up when she really focused on dancing (which is her career now). She's getting back into it, though, figuring it's something she can do when she gets too old to perform and teach dance. (Which, at 65, she definitely is NOT right now)

It's a good likeness, especially the mischief in her face. I'd think torties would be really hard to paint because of the way the orange and black are intermingled in her coat, but Mom really nailed it, even the way the light shines on her fur.
