You know those "friendly reminder" posts...

...that are really often something preachy or passive-aggressive or condescending and not really friendly at all? Yeah.


These really are friendly reminders:

1) Voting for The Holmsies is open for TEN MORE DAYS. These are Sherlock fic awards meant to recognize lesser-known fics (with fewer than 25,000 hits on AO3 or 250 reviews/comments anywhere else - and believe me, coming from a small fandom, that seems like a shitload at first. But in a huge fandom, it really isn't). The nominations list is an awesome recs list, so go read and vote!

(I have no affiliation with these awards besides being co-author of a nominated fic, which, well, SQUEE! But I think they're a great idea).


2) It's late August. Which means September is coming soon. Which means that we the mods of the Good Omens Exchange are brushing out the dust and airing out the place. Never too early to start thinking about your requests. GOE was founded at the holiday season 2005, so this is the TENTH round. Who'd have thought?

Oooohhhh! Any idea what the rules for requests are going to be this year, yet? I think there was some discussion about making at least one more general one mandatory last year? (Just so I don't think up something too detailed again.)

I think they'll be similar to last year, I don't foresee any radical changes, but we do think that one's a good idea. Some artists/writers really strongly prefer detailed prompts, and others work better with more general, open ones, so we'd like to see people submit a mix. We might consider strictly limiting the number of crossovers per request set, too, because there were a few sets that were hard to match because of that.

Oh yes, that is a very good idea, I remember having trouble with crossovers last year ... though there also were a lot of really tempting prompts as well. Ah, I'm getting more and more excited the longer I think of GOE!

Hm, so one detailed, one crossover, one open? Yes, I think that should suit me fine.
