This is one of the coolest fandom gifts I've ever received: Sunhawk loved that story so much she commissioned an artist, elfrightsactivist, to draw a scene from it, and the result is AMAZING!

Under the cut because it's big and spoilery (though, honestly, it's a Tolkien crossover fic, so I don't see how the possibility of [THING THAT HAPPENS] is really a surprise to anyone. It is fairly SFW (some strategically covered nudity), unlike the story itself (drawing the actual sex scene from this story would be . . . a specialized task I wouldn't want to impose on anyone. :D)

LOOK! )

Of course it works best as an illustration for the story, so I've added it here.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

OMG YOU GUYS [livejournal.com profile] kinkajou DID IT AGAIN!

This one's a scene from The Bone Fiddle itself, and . . .

it's the graveyard scene in Chapter 7! SPOILERZ

GO LOOK IT'S AMAZING (I'd say it's PG-13)

There's a bear, and a moon, and a lighted coal miner's helmet, and an open grave, and bones, and John and Sherlock just about to . . . do what they do in that scene. :D

I love this so much and am SO HONORED!

The brilliant [livejournal.com profile] kinkajou has drawn a GORGEOUS piece illustrating a scene from Rode Hard and Put Away Wet!

Sherlock and Arthur galloping to John's rescue as the tornado approaches.

I love everything about this. THANK YOU!

[livejournal.com profile] kinkajou has created a gorgeous and sexy piece inspired by The Straw Man Fallacy's epilogue.

Which means it's spoilery, but most of y'aall have read it by now anyway, right?

spoiler text if you want to know what kinkajou drew )

I admit I had imagined Sherlock and John wearing quite a few more clothes in this scene BUT I HEARTILY APPROVE OF THE ARTIST'S AESTHETIC CHOICE. And even if you haven't read the story, the art is of great interest to antler and kilt enthusiasts. :)

Thank you SO MUCH.

IT'S HERE LOOK OVER HERE.

I rate it a very hot PG-13. Probably NSFW, depending on where you work.

Sauron by masterhalfling (facial model is Benedict Cumberbatch, and blame Peter Jackson if you don't like that, not the artist)

Whoa. That's a really compelling Second Age Sauron - with Ring, still with fair form ability, looking very much like a Maia going bad. (Not to make it all about me, but this is retroactively creeping into my headcanon for Sauron's human-ish form in The Ring and the Crown. He's lost his Master, and now he's becoming more unhinged as he becomes more ruthless in taking power over others in a vain attempt to replace what he's lost.)

Who is he manipulating through that palantír in the picture? I want to know! It's compelling!

The Bone Fiddle just reached 10,000 hits on AO3!

Nothing I've been involved with has come close to that before! *hugs [livejournal.com profile] htebazytook* Oh, big fandoms, you scare me, but I love you. And yes, I know 10,000 hits isn't that big a deal for a multichaptered, explicit Sherlock/John fic, but I'm still thrilled.

Also, in the last week or so we've received not one but two beautiful pieces of cover art for it!

A gorgeous, atmospheric, autumnal, musical one by songofthecuckoo

A crisp, modern, snappy one (A Sherlockian Modern Classics cover) by glowingbunny

So, to celebrate, um...ask me anything!

Serious sequel brainstorming has started, and some rough sketchy bits already written.
