So the #221BeMine hashtag on Twitter inspired me to generate some god-awful Sherlock Holmes-inspired verse. Since things get lost on Twitter I'm compiling them all here.

Fishes love water
Witches love pentacles
The Lion's Mane nearly
Got Holmes in its tentacles

My sixth fic rec at [community profile] 221b_recs: To His Watson Going to Bed by [personal profile] okapi.

ACD canon, Holmes/Watson, NC-17/Explicit

Absolutely gorgeous and steamy interlude featuring Holmes reciting poetry, riffing on John Donne's "To His Mistress Going to Bed." Mesmerizing and very hot.

For both Polyshipping Day and Halloween, I bring you

a 1,000-word PWP written entirely in rhyming couplets.

Sauron and Thuringwethil are summoned to their Master's throne to serve His pleasure - and they're not sure they'll survive it. Mind the warnings.

Smoothly now she changed her shape,
Sharp teeth upon her master’s nape,
“My lord, my Thu, what’s your command,
Kiss of my mouth, stroke of my hand,
My leathern wings, my silken thighs,
I’ll give my all to feel thee rise.”

She pricked his neck; he let her feed
It cost him nothing just to bleed,
Angband’s lieutenant, Sauron bright
Said, “Lady, we have a call tonight,
He’ll have us both before His throne,
He’ll have all our pleasures known.”

Clearly my case of Tolkien damage is highly advanced and irreversible. I found this a lot easier to write than one might think.

I just got a kudo on Goldberry's Song at AO3. First one since I posted it there.

I'm not saying it's the greatest fanwork I ever wrote, I know it isn't. It's close to my heart, though; I'd just heard one too many arguments about how Goldberry was supposedly some voiceless male wish-fulfillment hippie-chick cipher, but she had never struck me that way at all. I thought she was something ancient and mysterious and never fully explained (just like Tom Bombadil) and loved him for reasons of her own. At least in my head, she was always clearly a river-nymph sort of spirit, and he a Green Man figure, so why wouldn't they be together as equals representing different but interdependent elements?

So I dug into The Adventures of Tom Bombadil and aimed at pastiching that sort of rhyming style to tell her courtship story from her point of view.
