Surreal is your mom calling you up at 2:45 AM from a bus somewhere en route to Kuala Lumpur asking you to log onto her email account and change her password lest the nosy friend she was staying with before read all her email. She won't have time, as she's flying to Jakarta as soon as she arrives.

Well? It's a perfectly civilized hour where she is, after all!

(Not as bad as it sounds. I am still awake then more often than not, and she knows it.)

it's also surreal, in a perfectly delightful way, to get a myspace message from your best friend asking you to reply with your phone numbers because the only record of said numbers and other contact info was in the cellphone that he lost the night before--

Ahahahahah! Oh, that is so perfect, isn't it? If one must lose a cellphone, that's the way to go. :)

And as dead-of-night oh-shit calls go, this is the kind I like best as well.
