I'm starting to recover from the jet lag, I think. Now's where I admit what I want - a new iBook. One that's light and small enough that it would have been feasible to take on this trip, one that's better equipped to take advantage of wireless connections where they exist. Because there were so many hotel nights when I couldn't quite sleep yet, and my fingers itched to type.

So, [livejournal.com profile] 30_lemons, bwahahah, what have I done?

Help me, friendslist and lurkers.

HP Readers:

Best answer (or justification for a ticky box click) gets a credit and a custom drabble. ("Best" is defined as "what feels the most right to me/makes me laugh the hardest", so don't expect an objective scoring system).

[Poll #720037]

Thank you!

GO Readers:

Same terms, same prize, but no ticky box here. Get creative; make my day!

So Aziraphale and Crowley are giving free rein to their inherent kinkiness. But of course, safe, sane, and consensual!

[Poll #720038]

Thanks in advance for your brilliance.

Awfully frivolous, isn't it? That's what I can handle right now. I'm holed up in my office where Mr. Weed is watching Yet Another 9/11 Documentary and I just stuck my head out long enough to describe what Kabul looks like from the air. Digory is being very needy and I know why. I don't want to go back to work tomorrow.

It may be just a virus. Yesterday was a solid 8 on the death-warmed-over scale, today's more like a 6.7. We'll see. More tea.

Good thing, as I'm busybusybusy.

In other news, a fic of mine made GAFF!!

Finally! I was starting to feel like the most obscure NNF (No-Name Fan) ever.

It is, of course, an intentional crackfic--and a smutty one at that-- and it is three years old (but then I wouldn't have put it up at Skyehawke recently if I were nearly as ashamed of it as I should be), but hey! The biggest ego-stroke was the poster who said it was actually well-written and in-character, and that made it worse.

Heh.

Now, stories of mine have been mentioned in their "The Antidote" section twice that I know of, but that's just not the same. (And what amuses me about that is that the two stories were "The Ring and the Crown" and "Wrong Turn at Yesod." Not only can I not think of two pieces of anything I've ever written more different from each other, I can't conceive of how two pieces could be more different. I guess only if one of them lacked porn...)

More pseudoephedrine, please!

Also, congratulations to the first person to finish her [livejournal.com profile] go_exchange assignment. She knows who she is, and she rocks.

I'm pretty overwhelmed by the response "Breathless Mouths May Summon" has gotten; only a few people know this, but as of last week I was all a-wibble with anxiety about it not being good enough. (I only do this with things that really, really matter to me)...especially with a collaborator involved; being worthy of her work is a new level of responsibility. We seem to have made a lot of people happy.

If you're wondering why it was posted only to [livejournal.com profile] lower_tadfield and not here, it's because the person who physically does the posting (me, in this case) gets all the email notifications, and q_w shouldn't have to keep checking both here AND there to see what folks were saying. Best to keep it all centralized.

Now, just because that story took up my whole psyche, it doesn't mean that's all I've been doing.

Remember that crackfic meme that was going around a couple weeks ago, where you take characters whose pictures appear in your icons and alphabetize them to generate pairings? I didn't do it for my own icons, but I did leave a couple drive-by crackfics in other people's comments.

For [livejournal.com profile] violet_quill I actually sort of used TWO of her pairings. The first is a het pairing, of a Real Person and a Toon. The second is....well, I'm just glad I don't actually believe in Hell.

PG, I think. Be warned - I did not spend more than half an hour on either of these.

She was a tall dame. I am not a tall man. )

The second was for [livejournal.com profile] xylodemon, who wound up with Crowley/Dementor. Well, this is more a story about Crowley and a Dementor. Just a little bit of virgule, ew. This one I think owes a spiritual debt to [livejournal.com profile] hjbender's hilarious "Revenge of the Houseplants" and I know it owes a very concrete material one to [livejournal.com profile] mamushi's genius illustrated treatise on Dementor reproduction, from which I used a premise. Also PG-ish.

He couldn't even say why. He just didn't like it. )

We all are She's still waiting for that Eminem/Gandalf, by the way.

Man, the friendslist was bringin' it today!

Multifandom recs.

Harry Potter, but with mucho mass appeal:
I'm sure most people know this by now, but [livejournal.com profile] mctabby has commemorated the 30th installment of the cracktastic Summary Executions series with a Greatest Hits edition. 300 luscious horrors inflicted upon the poor defenseless English language, and of course the characters we know and fuck with mercilessly love, only some of whom are defenseless. Some are almost Zenlike: "Nagini plans to take matters into her own hands." "A story told by the eyes of someone unwanted."

Crossover crack, sort of; LOTR AND The Princess Bride. [livejournal.com profile] mollyringwraith posts a collaborative effort: The Lord of the Rings Movie Scripts, Done Entirely in 'The Princess Bride' Quotes. Not only is this a geek apotheosis, it works so brilliantly, terrifyingly well.

Good Omens AND Harry Potter: If you're a [livejournal.com profile] lower_tadfield regular, you probably saw [livejournal.com profile] blue_phlox's gorgeous portraits of four sexy Supernaturals. But if you only saw that one, and didn't follow the link to her own lj, you probably didn't see the gorgeous portrait of the young Sirius and Regulus Black, all decked out in their proud-Pureblood vintage. They're both here.

Good Omens proper, although it's quite improper: [livejournal.com profile] professor_mary presents very unusual SMUT: All Mine, in which the connections between the Horsepersons and the Them get explored in a very erotic and very creepy way. Is it a pairing or a three-way? Bit of both, really. (Adam/Brian/Implied Pollution, NC-17)

Harry Potter AND Lord of the Rings: [livejournal.com profile] thrihyrne has written a HP/Tolkienverse crossover that's just bloody brilliant: Of Dwarves and Stewed Lucius, here. Dodges and skewers all possible thought of cliche: Lucius Malfoy and Second Age Dwarves. Also more references to needing to relieve oneself than are found in the entire Tolkien corpus.

Go enjoy, and give these geniuses the love like it's your last rear at Hogwarts!

Being held for ransom by Muses. Writing. Don't send help.

This is a Pimp Other People Post, Potterverse-centric. Assume everything listed has HBP spoilers (though not everything does, most do, and I can't be arsed to sort it.)

[livejournal.com profile] mamushi draws How Dementors Breed.

[livejournal.com profile] teawithvoldy has another take on it

Oh, just join [livejournal.com profile] dementor_love. I did!

[livejournal.com profile] sioniann does excellent Albus/Fawkes.

Nature's First Green is Gold is sad and beautiful.

Burning Day is NC-17, FILTHY, squicky, and CRACK-tastic!

I do so appreciate a writer who can hit both those heights and, er, depths in writing about the same relationship. "But love has pitched his mansion in the place of excrement; For nothing can be sole or whole / That has not been rent." Crazy Jane would not lie to you.

[livejournal.com profile] sazzlette has written The Boy Who Cried Wolf. (Fenrir/Young Remus, PG). Creepy, fairy-tale. (Fenrir is one of the Muses I'm luring, so, close to the bone. So to speak. Owooooooooo, gnaw.)

On the cracked-out crossover front (HP/Good Omens in this case), if you sssssscions of Sssssslytherin like your sssssssuggestive ssssssillinessss more ssssscaly and sssssssibilant (OK, I'll ssstop!), [livejournal.com profile] dreya_uberwald presents A Turn for the Bizarre. Crowley/Nagini, with a twisssst at the end I won't ssssspoil (Ha, I lied).

***

Now I'm succumbing to a temptation I didn't think I would. I blame HBP, and I also blame [livejournal.com profile] lizardspots (Gorgeous drawing of Snape and Draco, worksafe, here.) and [livejournal.com profile] linnpuzzle for this (also gorgeous image of Snape and Draco, also worksafe).

ETA: OK, one more art link. Goth!Trio, from mugglenet. Worksafe. Not beverage-safe. It's like every bad teen-angst Hot Topic fanfic come to life.

So who's got the post-HBP Snaco? Bring it on. Rec it for me. Hook me up.

Dedicated to my friendslist, some of whom already have You Know What, and some of whom are terrified of You Know What. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] amberdiceless, who reminded me of that great C.S. Lewis quote in a post of hers a few days ago.

Crowley and Aziraphale are dealing with Certain Imminent Events. (which have already happened in the UK). Slashy implication, PG I suppose. It's probably been done before, but hey.

Hit [livejournal.com profile] tea_and_snark's wonderful Neil Gaiman Fanfiction Open again. I've got a bit of a nasty summer bug and it was giving me insomnia this morning.

[livejournal.com profile] corporal_katz requested "Good Omens; Crowley/Aziraphale; Laughter, surprised, moaning; Object: ...A dildo. *facepalm*

I don't actually think the *facepalm* was part of the request. But I think I may have worked one in anyway. Now, this request looks like rather obvious pr0n-fishing to me, and so of course my brain, rushing in where angels pretend to fear to tread, shrieked comedy!

I'll still give it an R rating, though. I hope that is pleasing. Spot the classic movie reference!

[livejournal.com profile] dreya_uberwald was taking ficlet requests in her LJ a little while back. She's fond of doing crossovers and brilliant with teh funneh. I requested a conversation between two cranky, creature-comfort-addicted, long-suffering Agents of the Divine Known By Many Names In the Mortal Lands. (Most commonly as Aziraphale and Gandalf).

She's done it and it's delightful: Old Friends

Featuring many hilarious reminiscences, and cameo appearances, by...well, you'll see.
