Once two strangers climbed ol' Rocky Top
Looking for a moonshine still
Strangers ain't come down from Rocky Top
Reckon they never will

A tense moment in Sherlock and Sheriff Lestrade's long friendship. Gen, rated T for references to murder and alcohol.

I do so SO wish I could go to 221B Con. I wish it so, so badly. After the SHIT that went down in 2015 where so many friends of mine were attacked and abused, I swore I'd never go, because the con-comm really did not address everyone's anger and concerns fairly...but it does seem to be a much kinder place now? I really do just want to be able to hang out with as many friends as possible from Sherlock fandom. 221B-Con is still the best place to do this -- and now, it appears, the ONLY place to do this.

I got an AMAZING taste of writing-workshopping and panelling at Sherlock Seattle in 2016, but that is no longer running. 221B Con seems to be the only game in town now. Unfortunately, because of the seasonal nature of my job (managing a subscription sales campaign for an arts company that runs from April to November), the first three weeks of April are pretty much the ONLY time out of my whole year that I literally cannot take a weekend off. That's when I'm re-setting up, interviewing and hiring and training, in meetings all the time. A con in March? I could go. A con in May? I could go. A con in any other month besides April? I could go. April? no go.

BUT!!! I cry, I whine online, and then I try to rally other fans in the same state as me. I set up 221b Consolation on Tumblr. A prompt fest for people who can't go to the con, to offer up works and take prompts. There's a matching collection on AO3.

SO MANY GREAT WORKS IN SO LITTLE TIME.

And I wrote 7 221B drabbles (221 words each, last word begins with B), and here they all are together:

A 221B drabble per day (whether it’s a Sherlockian fandom or not), drawn from the kinktober kink list!

Day 1: 1. Spanking | Sleepy Sex | Aphrodisiacs

A Boon to Diplomacy (The Hobbit, Bilbo/Thorin/Thranduil/Bard)

Day 2: 2. Dirty talk | Watersports | Forniphilia (Human Furniture)

A Firm Footing (Sherlock)

“Very steady footstool, Miss Adler,” said Mai the professional podophile. Many thought they could withstand this game, and most were wrong. Neither woman would forget the barrister that collapsed during the acupressure phase of the pedicure and smeared still-moist Pompeian Pomegranate everywhere.

“Irene, please,” said Irene, as she always did. The other woman shook her head and smiled, for she and Irene also had a game together. “But it’s listing a bit to the left I think.”

Irene gave a light slap to the footstool’s pale shapely arse, and one straining thigh shifted slightly to give a more solid purchase. Underneath, one could see that the footstool was aroused, but Irene knew that was a physiological response only, and what mattered most to the object was the energy in its brain. Helps it think, it said. Train the transport. Regardless, it loved the steadying pressure of Irene’s slender feet in the small of its back as her cuticles were massaged and her toenails painted. It was a matter of honour to it. She deigned to pet its dark curly hair and admire the architectural curves of its lean shoulders and arms.

Its sweat had a rich scent. Its nude skin was smooth against her heels. Sometimes it texted her hours later with news of a case breakthrough.

(this is the second story I’ve gotten out of one semi-joke line in The Passion That Slays and Recovers. That fic is a gift that keeps on giving.)

Ok, i’m doing this. Last night I accidentally wrote a near-perfect 221B drabble for a fandom that wasn’t Sherlock. So I decided they’re all going to be 221B drabbles (221 words, last word must start with ‘b’) whether they have anything to do with Sherlock Holmes or not. I may change my mind about that later, lol. All fandoms and pairings are fair game for me this round.

Anyway, here’s the first one. There’s a full list of prompts here, and you pick from each day’s listing of three.

1. Spanking | Sleepy Sex | Aphrodisiacs

A Boon to Diplomacy (Fandom: The Hobbit)

“Well,” said Bilbo. “There are those who say the Old Toby is the finest, and others who’ll go to war for the Longbottom Leaf. It’s down to whether you like a dry woody smoke, or a lighter touch with a hint of honey. I think they’re both splendid, but one’s more a summer flavor and the other more suited to falling leaves and chill in the air, for it goes well with the scent of a lively hearth … The Old Toby pairs best with beef and brandy…”

“That’s all well and good,” grumbled Thorin, “but have you ever had it with Dorwinion wine?”

“Unlikely,” said Thranduil. “We were barely aware of the existence of the Shirefolk - we’d have been glad to trade if they wished it, but rarely did our paths cross.”

“So neither hobbit nor dwarf nor elf nor man could have foreseen the reaction that the combination causes,” Thorin huffed, and sped up the motions of his hand on Thranduil’s member until the Elvenking bit his lip and closed his eyes and dropped his goblet raining red droplets all over the floor, all over the shining mithril shirt that was the only thing Bilbo wore, his apple-plump arse shamelessly bearing the bounce of Thorin’s thrusts, his rampant little cock stabbing lightly into the mouth of Bard below.

A very belated New Year's Eve-themed 221B drabble. I'm dedicating this to [livejournal.com profile] write_out because she's had a crap week.

Title: Setting the Tone (pt 1)
Fandom: Sherlock (AU, Bone-Fiddle-verse)
Pairing: Sherlock/John
Rating: PG
Warnings: none
Summary: Once again, John teaches Sherlock to have a little respect for tradition.

Any other drabble writers out there driven absolutely mad by the way Google Docs and Open Office don't register word counts the same way, so they never match exactly? Open Office says this is a legit 221B, goddammit.

For [livejournal.com profile] corpsereviver2, inspired by the wondrous holiday card she sent me.

Title: "Deck the Hearse and Kiss the Driver (Or Maybe Vice Versa)"
Fandom: Sherlock (Bone-Fiddle-verse, Appalachian AU)
Pairing: Sherlock/John
Rating: PG, tops.
Words: 221
Warnings: none
Summary: John surprises Sherlock for a change.

Happy Holidays, y'all!
vulgarweed: (tree_by_aurora_starwing)
Fandom: Sherlock, Bone Fiddle AU
Pairing: Sherlock/John
Rating: Explicit/NC-17
Warnings: None of the big ones.

Summary: Sherlock always wants to keep going, no matter what, but he really is only human. John is both kind and . . . not-kind.

Author's note: This takes place after the long TBF sequel-in-progress, so there is just one tantalizing allusion to events in that story we haven't finished yet.
